Melting Ice

With lots of ice over the last several weeks, I’ve been busy exploring birefringence in ice. I found this intriguing shape with a nice mix of birefringent locations over the stream portion of my pond. This view has been rotated by 180 degrees, which “feels” much better to me. A 10 shot stack for dof. (7D2, 180mm macro, 1/20 s, f/16, iso 800, tripod and polarizer)

Very nicely seen and captured, Mark. You’re going to have to make of book of all your ice sculpture photos.

Another excellent ice image, Mark. The shapes and colors are fascinating.

Another excellent ice image, for sure, Mark. I am enjoying the shapes and the lovely colors you captured in the ice. I like @linda_mellor idea of a book of all of your ice photos. Nice shot.

I really like the shapes of the ice and the myriad of colors reflecting. Nice.

Gorgeous, with an appropriately subdued but still interesting BG that complements the ice.

Mark: One of my favorite of your ice images both for the shapes and for the colors. These kind of unique and unrepeatable images are so appealing to me. Most excellent. >=))>
