Description
Decided to post this silhouette style photography. Cold Cloudy day just on my usual walk. What Do I See and Feel ??? There were strings of cups made of metal in this industrial park so i grabbed a few shots. Always for fun and hopefully something different.
Specific Feedback
What about the Sky. Brighter or Darker. Did I capture the length and how high the cups are …
Technical Details
ISO 640 Shutter 500 F18 edit in photoshop. not much editing. some burning in the clouds.

I like the angle you shot this at, Gill. It does a good job of creating a feeling of height in these. You might play with contrast/curves in the clouds if your aim was to create a menacing sky. Deeper grays might convey that feeling a bit more.
Thanks. I’ll probably do a new version and see what happens.
Cool rain chain, Gill. I agree on more menacing sky. Also, was it windy? Mine hang straight unless there is wind, in which case they blow a bit. These seem to be at an angle, which in my mind lends the idea of wind.
Catching them with rain flowing through might be interesting too. It’s tough to get a silhouette of these without getting another house, trees, something in the background.

Rain Chain. Wow I didn’t know that. Windy and Stormy and Cold. I think I captured the vibe of the metal cups. Thanks so much.
@Gill_Vanderlip
Oh yeah. They are popular around Portland where rooflines otherwise have a big bend for a downspout or in cold climates where a long downspout freezes solid.
Here’s mine in action

ps I can delete if short vid not allowed
Oh WOW. I can see some cool images made from the Rain Chain and water. Or even ice hanging from them in the sun light. I may have to go and buy a Rain Chain and put up here at the house. Thanks for the video and information. Peace to You and this Planet.

Don’t delete this video. I think others in the NPN would really like to watch and see how this works. Get some photography ideas. Maybe we should do a challenge. Rain Chains around the world. Might be FUN !!!
@Gill_Vanderlip: I’ve never done a still water shot of it. I took pictures of ice once with my cell phone, but I think a close up with bg blur is a great plan.
