Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

While I was waiting for the sky to darken after sunset to make the last two photos I posted my attention was directed at this waves in the water. The shine from the post-sunset sky was reflecting off the water and hints of the orange-red afterglow was appearing on the small wavelets.

Specific Feedback

Is this photo abstract enough?

Do the small reflections of read and orange on the tops of the wavelets contrast adequately aginsit the blue?

Technical Details

Youssef, I like this one. I think the reflected color comes through clearly. The wavelets create an interesting texture. The unknown object at the center of the frame catches my attention, in part because there’s nowhere else for the eye to rest. I don’t think that dead center is the best place to put it. I also don’t see any benefit from the panoramic approach here.

It’s abstract enough if it does what you wanted it to do.

Youssef: I especially like the dark color palette and the wave actions. I’m not sure I would have noticed that center object if Don hadn’t mentioned it but now I can’t unsee it. A little AI magic would make it go away and I think I might do so. Everything else looks good to me. Well seen and captured. >=))>
