White-breasted Nuthatch
White-throated Sparrow
Pine Warbler, male
Critique Style Requested: Standard
The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I have been mostly striking out this past month for shots of birds out in the field - the short-eared owls are just now arriving and the state park pond has been desolate for the most part.
Fortunately the birds in the backyard have been cooperating pretty well.
Attracted with peanuts, sunflower seeds, and bark butter.
Specific Feedback
Any comments appreciated.

Just like you, I started to feed the birds again, preparing for winter. But I don’t have the attractive perches that you have. I’ll try to construct something. And the birds usually stay for only a very short time, because the sparrow hawk is never far away.
I like all 4, but the 2nd and the 3rd are the best for me, because of the poses. It is unfortunate that you see a bit less of the nuthatch in the 2nd image, the blue-grey back is beautiful, but I prefer the 2nd pose over the 1st. For the same reason, I like nr. 3 better than nr. 4.
Great detail, colours and BG in all, by the way.
I tend to go for #2 and #4 the most, Allen. The poses are more expressive of latent movement and convey more energy than the first and third which are a bit more static. Technically all are excellent. If I was still shooting Canon, I’d be looking long and hard at that lens.
For my personal taste, you could back off a bit on the tightness of the framing, though I know backyard shots can have a lot of junk in the way.
