My First eBook: “A Sense of Place: Photo Adventures @ Cosumnes River Preserve”
Project Description
For some time now I’ve been fine-tuning the idea of creating a set of short eBooks highlighting the more memorable “photo adventures” taken at favorite “local” locations. In my case, mostly those less than a four-hour drive from the San Francisco Bay and metropolitan Sacramento areas.
After quite a few trials, I settled on a set of thirty images, organized into five categories of six images each. The first four categories concentrate on specific aspects or perspectives of the location. While the last “Outtakes” category includes favorite images that did not neatly fit into any of the other four categories.

Self Critique
I like the “Image Table of Contents” that includes clickable links to each image. That way the viewer can pick and choose which images to view - as opposed to having to scroll through pages and pages of images. I also included a small clickable “home” clip art in the lower left corner of each page, which takes them directly back to the Image Table of Contents.
Creative Direction
I’ve got quite a few “A Sense of Place” eBooks in the queue. And wanted to create a standardized template. So even though each eBook is of a different location and has different images, I wanted a consistent viewer interface.
I purposely picked the title, “A Sense of Place” for this series of eBooks, because I wanted to include images that gives the viewer a sense of what it’s like to visit the location, not just a collection of “pretty/epic/iconic/lucky” images.
Specific Feedback
Mostly interested in everything that the viewer found positive and/or negative.
