This small pond in the middle of the woods had just enough water on it and was still enough to grow long, beautiful ice crystals. The plus was the ice was thin enough that the leaves on the bottom of the pond became a colorful background. The diffuse light was just right, at least as long as I was careful to keep the angle reflecting what I wanted to show.

Wow, nice find John and well captured. Each represents different textures and my eyes are drawn to the many lines in both. The top one actually reminds me of corduroy; could be an abstract.
John: These are reminiscent of Mark Seaver’s ice images. I hope you will take that as the high compliment intended. The abstract nature of the first contrasts nicely with the more literal take on the second. Nice find superbly captured. >=))>
John, the first post looks great. It has lots of interesting details in the ice plus a good spectrum of subtle colors. The second photo has very interesting lines radiating out from that oval in the lower left. I do think it would benefit from a modest crop, off the top and the right.
