New ice over leaves

Image(s)

Image Description

This small pond in the middle of the woods had just enough water on it and was still enough to grow long, beautiful ice crystals. The plus was the ice was thin enough that the leaves on the bottom of the pond became a colorful background. The diffuse light was just right, at least as long as I was careful to keep the angle reflecting what I wanted to show.

Beautiful. Great composition on the second image. That close up is fascinating.

Wow, nice find John and well captured. Each represents different textures and my eyes are drawn to the many lines in both. The top one actually reminds me of corduroy; could be an abstract.

Very cool, John. I have no suggestions to offer.

John: These are reminiscent of Mark Seaver’s ice images. I hope you will take that as the high compliment intended. The abstract nature of the first contrasts nicely with the more literal take on the second. Nice find superbly captured. >=))>

John, the first post looks great. It has lots of interesting details in the ice plus a good spectrum of subtle colors. The second photo has very interesting lines radiating out from that oval in the lower left. I do think it would benefit from a modest crop, off the top and the right.

Thank you one and all. I appreciate both your suggestions and your enthusiasm for the images. The is no end to the beauty of a winter world!
