Exciting changes are coming to the Landscape category!
As many of you know, the Landscape category is one of the most active and vibrant parts of NPN. To keep this category thriving, we’re thrilled to announce a brand-new team of Landscape moderators starting January 1st!
First, I want to extend a huge thank you to our outgoing moderators, @Lon_Overacker, @Eva_McDermott, and @David_Wallace. They’ve dedicated countless hours to nurturing this community, and their contributions have been invaluable. We are incredibly grateful for their service and commitment to making NPN a welcoming and inspiring place for landscape photographers. While they are stepping down from their moderator duties, their wisdom and expertise are not lost to us, they will still be actively participating and providing feedback on big ideas to help us continue making NPN an even better community.
Now, please join me in giving a warm welcome to our new Landscape moderator team:
This talented group brings a wealth of experience, passion, and fresh perspectives to the Landscape category. They’re eager to connect with you all, foster engaging discussions, and help us continue to grow as photographers. They have all been long-time members of NPN and have contributed greatly to our community. I know they will continue this as moderators.
Let’s all give our new moderators a warm welcome and continue to make the Landscape forum an amazing place to share our love of landscape photography! I’m excited to see what this new chapter brings, and hope you are too.
David, all around positives for everyone you mentioned. Having been here since the earth cooled I can truly say I know everyone you’ve mentioned.
Thank you to all involved both those stepping away and those stepping toward the moderator positions.
The best to all who participate at all levels here at NPN going into this New Year…
David, this is great news to me. Lon, Eva and David gave me all valuable comments and learning moments for a number of years. The new moderators are all known to me. And valued for their knowledge of photography and the comments they gave me. I learned so much here by the old as well as the new moderators !
There are some very familiar (to me) names in this post.
Eva and Lon were long time members as well as moderators on NPN v.1, when I had the pleasure getting to know them at least virtually. Eva didn’t live far away in NH and we spent some time capturung images together. In fact, my bio photo/avatar was taken by Eva. Thanks to Eva, Lon and David for your time and dedication to helping others improve their photography, and inspiring us with your own work!
I know the new team will be up to the challenge. A special shout-out to @Bret_Edge as he joined shortly after NPN went online in April of 2000, and was a regular participant in the Earth, Sea & Sky (now Landscape) gallery. Bret, I’m thrilled to see you’re still actively engaged!
Congrats to John, David, Bret, Ed and Michael in your role of NPN moderators - we look forward to your leadership and inspiration!
Sincere thanks to Lon, David, and Eva for their support and critiques, which certainly helped me grow. I had the great pleasure of shooting with Eva for a week in Arcadia, and meeting her family, quite a few years ago.
Welcome to John, David, Bret, Ed and Michael - you’ll be wonderful moderators! I’ve shot with David many times, and appreciated his advice on the southern CA merlins/kestrels that he helped construct perches for in a local park.
Thank you to the outgoing team for all your advice and support. I hope we’ll see just as much of your work and creative ideas in future. Also thanks to the incoming team for stepping up and dedicating some time to helping and encouraging the rest of us.
Thank you to all of the outgoing moderators! You have been inspiring and a huge asset to the entire NPN community.
Thank you to the incoming moderators as well! All of you have made major contributions to NPN in the past and I’m looking forward to your insights going forward.
Great cast of photographic characters for this forum David. Thank you for putting so much thought and effort into making this website and NPN such an excellent resource for all of us. Thanks especially to Lon, Evfa and David for the tireless work they’ve done to help all of us improve our image(s). . . . over the years.
That’s a group of very knowledgable photographers. They have big shoes to fill. Lon and Eva have been with NPN forever. They were very dedicated to it. This is a real passing of the torch.
A big welcome to the new Landscape Team. John, David, Bret, Ed and Michael. An excellent group of photographers to pass the torch to! Best of luck in your new roles. I will still look forward to your exquisite work.
First, I want to thank both @David_Kingham and @Jim_Erhardt for the opportunity to serve the NPN community - I think since 2006? Yikes! Great to see you back Jim!
Thank you David and team for all the hard work you have put in to carry on and grow the NPN community! And to that, I 100% support the needed changes to the Landscape category. I can only speak for myself, but clearly I’ve been pretty much absent for most of 2024 and I think the decision to bring in a new team and approach was needed!
Also a big thank you to @Eva_McDermott and @David_Wallace for your contributions over the years - And like me, I hope that we all can get back to contributing to the NPN community with images and critiques. I know I miss that! Thank you to all the members for your comments and support. This definitely feels like family.
Finally, congratulations to the new moderator team! This is an outstanding group of not only great nature photographers, but good people that I believe will serve the NPN community with great enthusiasm. I know you all will do well!
As @Jim_Erhardt mentioned, I have been a member of NPN since the Dark Ages and have always considered this forum to be the very best of its kind. The tremendous amount of talent that exists here, and the truly generous nature of this community, are things I’ve long appreciated.
To Lon, Eva and David - THANK YOU. You have no doubt impacted the trajectory of dozens of photographers - myself very much included - and your contributions are sincerely appreciated. This new moderator team does indeed have some giant shoes to fill! Thank you to David for allowing me this opportunity. I look forward to working with John, Ed, Michael and David to continue developing a welcoming and nurturing environment in the Landscape forum.
