About This Image

Unusual view and choice of focus of this day lily (for me)
Mainly about colour shape and form.
I imagine the Anther surfing down an orange wave - well that’s what I saw anyway

Feedback Requested

Does it work as a composition - would it be better if all in focus, have I chosen the optimum DOF

any suggestions for improvement?

Huw, your title fits the view nicely. The variety of orange/yellow colors looks good. However, it looks like the anther is not quite sharp, while the center of the last petal is sharp. My personal feeling is that getting the anther and the petal behind it sharp would work better. I do like the how subtle the changes in sharpness are throughout the frame.

Orange waves it is, Huw. I like the various shades of orange, and the composition worrks well for me.

thanks both @Shirley_Freeman @Mark_Seaver

More care on focus next time I guess

Huw: Your selective focus works for me. I might consider making the anther along the bottom edge go away entirely. For some reason that grabs my eye more than the one on the right. Nicely conceived and executed.>=))>
