Out of the Fog

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Please don’t try to view this on a phone! The coast was pretty fogged in when we were there ten days ago and it was an interesting experience to have the gulls and pelicans emerge out of the fog and fly past us paralleling the beach. I really liked the looks of this group of seven though they’re very small in the frame.

Specific Feedback

I’m mostly interested in whether this image evokes the feel of the fog and the birds emerging from it. I really doubt that any of the birds would hold up to minute inspection so I’m not particularly interested in pixel peeping comments on this one.

Hi Dennis, I think you achieved your goal here. I definitely get the sense of the eeriness of the fog and the oncoming birds appearing out of it. Nice mood.

As I mentioned in your last gull post, I find it hard to get interesting shots of gulls, but I think you accomplished it again. A definite mood to this shot. Nice to have the gulls coming at you out of the fog and the background trees add to the mood and sense of place.
