The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Another keeper from my recent trip to the Lowe’s Water Gardens. This was one of very few lotus pods that were in decent shape. It was on a stem over 2 feet long and the wind was blowing fairly strong. Had LOTS of rejects due to motion blur but a few turned out ok. This one had just a light splash of light which gave me a bit more SS. >=))>

Specific Feedback

The AF had some trouble keeping up with the movement as I tried to keep the focus more on the leading edge and the center. Is the focus fall off too much?

This is wonderful!!! Reminds me of woodpeckers stuffing acorns into cavities they have made. The variation in the seeds is fascinating (and humorous) and the light is gorgeous! The DOF works just fine – sharp where it needs to be. Excellent!!!

I have never seen anything like this. Great shot. Fighting the wind and having rejects you still captured an amazing image. Very cool Bill. Really sharp and just an amazing plant !!!

Looks like a nicely productive plant as well, Bill. Lots of seeds in there. The depth of field and plane of focus work well. Looking closely, I’m seeing little brown spots on most of the seeds which makes me suspect there’s some kind of insect laying eggs in them and that makes it even cooler to me. The background is excellent. Very well done.

Hello. This image caught my eye! I have a similar one but not as well done as yours. I looked at this in full size and all the tiny details made me smile! The striations in the pod walls, the tiny, fine details on the edges of the outer pod are just incredibly well done! Even the death of something in nature can be beautiful when shot with such exquisite talent and skill. Thanks for sharing and kudos!

The light is killer. Really brings up how three dimensional this is. So much dessicated detail and I like the natural sharpness fall off. I think if more were in focus, we’d have too much to look at that wasn’t new, if you know what I mean. The elegantly repeating pattern is enough for us to know and understand what the far side looks like. I’m glad you persisted with this one.

That’s a fantastic picture, Bill. The depth of field, lighting, and color are all well-planned. Very playful, too. I wondered if it would be enough for the 25 doors of an advent calendar. The anticipation is slowly building. :glowing_star:
