Powder Blue Evening

Late evening after a fresh snowfall. It was turning cold as the clouds dissipated which resulted in lots of ground fog and clouds on the mountains. This was looking toward the West where the sun had set so you can’t see that most of the sky was blue. It was pretty dark so I set up the tripod and did a long exposure.

Just looking at this makes me cold and it’s a good thing I’m currently wearing my flannel lined denim pants. This is probably what it looked like although I’d be curious to see what would happen to the snow if you somehow decreased the blue cast. It may not work as well from an emotional standpoint but I’d be curious just the same.

I really like the “blueness” and how it adds to the chilly feeling as well as making it clear that this is an after sunset view Gary. The heavy coating of snow is great as I look along the creek. The clouds and the distant mountain add some fine atmospherics. There’s also a good overall sense of quietness.
