This is another image from Emerald Lake Lodge in the Yoho National Park, BC Canada. The place was so full of photographic potential, that my head was on a swivel the first day. The second day I settled into my obsession with this little pagoda-ish boat house, with the red canoes all packed up for winter.
I have a dozen of this subject, some much more telephoto, but I like the contextual shot with the clouds in the sky and water. I’ll share another in a day or two.

Any and all feedback welcome. Always.
I know vertical compositions like this are an acquired taste, so specifically:
Do the sky and water hold enough for the aspect ratio?
Do the angles (the bridge at left and shoreline curving toward me at right) create an issue with keeping the horizon level?

I like the idea of the reflection shot, Marylynne. but for me there’s way too much sky in this image and it’s not dramatic enough to make it feel appropriate for my taste. I downloaded this and played with the crop, first cropping a good share of the sky, but then I thought he reflection was too much and tried a squarish crop, but the transition from right water to still in the reflection didn’t work there so I cropped again and probably ended up with something very close to one of your more telephoto images:
I like all the other variations more than your original post, Marylynne. They get rid of a lot of the sky and give the line of the dock and the boathouse more prominence.
