This is a fabulous shot! The bird seems to be looking at that attractive epiphyte; and the sharpness is amazing. It would be interesting to know the back-story of this stellar shot. Did you use a hide? Did the bird fly away very soon after? How did you keep your hand steady when faced with this sight?
Thank you @Mike_Friel ! The bird perched for quite awhile. It had been eating wild avocados and took a nice break. I used a tripod. I’d highly recommend working out and doing some cardio before attempting to go to this area. 10,000 ft above sea level and lots of hiking up hills to get to where the birds are. The reward is incredible though! No hides, no baiting.
Christine: A spectacular bird indeed and one I don’t recall seeing on the site. Marvelous capture well worth the effort.

Two great Quetzal shots, Christine. I like both of them a lot. You could probably do a fine diptych with them.
Thank you @Bill_Fach . Appreciate it!
Thank you @Dennis_Plank . Great idea!
It looks like you got well rewarded for your effort to capture this magnificent bird. It is on my bucket list to see, and shoot a quetzal. No nits from me. Well done!
Thank you @Dave_Douglass !
