Image Description

Love the Oregon Coast! This was taken at Battle Rock Beach in Port Orford, Oregon. Some of my favorite things to shoot at the coast…fog, sand patterns, and rock. The two boys added just a touch of whimsy.
I’ll never forget this morning and location. I had apparently dropped a lens filter when I passed by those rocks and didn’t realize until I was even farther out than this. I thought it was pointless to search for something so small on the whole beach, since I had kind of wandered around. Ever hopeful, I kept my eyes on the ground as I headed back. As I got to the rocks, I decided it was a lost cause, looked down at my feet, and there was my filter!!!

Chris: I share your love for the Oregon coast and this is a classic depiction of it; beach, rocks, and fog. The boys are perfectly placed and just visible enough through the fog to make them a really nice complementary element. Marvelous find and a wonderful capture. >=))>

This is a terrific shot, Chris. I agree with Bill about the boys being in exactly the right spot. Well done.

Chris, the multiple “swoops” of lines in the sand do a great job of leading into the distance. The foggy sea stacks and the two boys pull the scene together very well.

Hi Chris,
This is quite lovely with the fog providing some wonderful atmospherics and the graceful curving lines in the sand are perfect as they draw my eye towards those two sea stacks where I discover the two boys playing in a tide pool. Beautifully done. No suggestions from me.

Oh, very nice! Those swirly ripples are really something. With those boys in the scene, this looks like a scene from a fairly tale.

And that’s amazing that you found your filter.

@Ed_Lowe @Don_Peters @Mark_Seaver @Bonnie_Lampley Thanks you all for your kind comments.

I find sand ripples fascinating too and can sometimes find them along the CT shoreline. I like your composition where the curvy lines draw the eye to the background rock formations. Just enough room around them so they don’t feel cramped and the soft light from the fog adds a sense of mystery to the whole scene. Well done!
