Rufous Hover

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

We always have anna’s but, every once in a while a rufous shows up and they get my attention. Every time I see one I about break my neck grabbing the camera for some shots. This guy was side lit by the setting sun, and from the right by the sunlit feeder it was interested in. The light was pretty limited hence the slow shutter speed. Turns out I liked the wing motion of it.

Nice job on this one, Dave. Excellent detail and a nice wing position, with a pleasing amount of blur. I could see giving it a bit more room on the left.

Nice pose you captured Dave. Love the gorget color on the right of the throat. Details look good. Agree with more room on left and then subsequently more room on right too.

Excellent capture – a very nice pose with great detail and color. The wing blur is just right with good positioning – not easy to get both wings looking good. I agree with the crop suggestions above.

The Rufous migrate through heading north in spring – I’m lucky to catch them as they pass through pretty quickly.

Very nice detail, background, moment and motion blur. I crave space for this little bird, though, a bit on the left and more on the right. Nevertheless a gorgeous shot!
Grt, Ingrid.
