Description

I am always on the lookout for these handsome guys to show up at our feeder. They don’t show up very frequently but when they do, I grab the camera. I got this guy in the very last light of day yesterday as he was fanned out in the “battle” mode arguing with an anna’s over feeder rights. The light BG is the nearby wall of our house.

Specific Feedback

Cropping? Anything?

Very nice!! These guys show up briefly in spring, migrating north. I’ve been looking for them but so far no luck.

I think you could tweak the reds as you have lost some detail. Just the slightest adjustment to the profile or WB in raw would probably do it. Watching the histogram while moving sliders is usually all it takes. Maybe also a tweak to the Saturation slider, but that’s the last resort.

Dave, a wonderful in flight image of this Hummer. I have two feeders going full time year around here in So Cal. I agree with @Diane_Miller on the red… :+1: :star_struck:
Although I’m a non digital shooter and can’t join in on the “RAW” ideas there at all…

Great flight shot, Dave, with the flared tail feathers and the hummer looking at you. I’m not sure, but you may be losing some detail in your NR process. I’ve tried several NR programs and I settled on DxO. If you’re using something else, you might give them a try. I think they over a free trial period.

Nice catch of this pose, Dave. I agree that something has removed a lot of detail from the plumage.
