Description
I never tire of shooting Point Lobos, south of Carmel, and particularly at low tide. Wonderful rock formations, rippled patterns and pebble-filled nooks, colorful gravel. I discovered this evaporation pocket while clambering over the rocks one morning.
Specific Feedback
I like the shot but feel it is quite abstract – if you don’t read the title, or spend time tidepooling, you probably won’t know what this is. Not sure how to enhance to solve this problem. Maybe a very large print? I confess to a bit of saturation to bring out the greens and golds in the rocks.
Hi James. To me, this is a wonderful shot, there is so much to explore and it kept my attention for quite a while. I’m not sure why you want to “solve the problem” of it looking like an abstract. It is a lovely abstract, and it doesn’t matter to me if I can discern its origin. Cheers.
James: One of the appeals of abstracts to me is the “What is this?” factor. I like that there is no real sense of scale and the disorganization of the disparate elements. For a color junkie like me this works really well. >=))>
James, this looks great as an abstract. My eyes easily wander the entire frame, which is important in abstracts. I like the subtlety of the colors and how the salt stands out due to it’s whiteness.
Hi James! I agree with the others - this is a very good abstract Image. I really like the mix of colors and tones. The white salts are the star of the show and the warm colors are very good supporting actors. Well done!
I agree with the others – no problems to solve here, for my taste! This is lovely and whether it is abstract or “real” is up to the viewer! Both work equally well for me – a mark of a good image! Shapes, textures and colors are wonderful! My only tiny nit is the dark and white area in the far LR corner. Clone over the white with the adjacent dark or clone over both with the reddish rock adjacent.
