Scarlet Macaws at the Lick

This image was taken on a recent visit to the Napo Wildlife Center in January. A mixed flock of parrots came into the lick but were scared off after a viper snagged a Cobalt-winged above the water pool. It was another two hours before any birds returned-these two were leading the return flock.

Hi Chuck,

Colors are perfect with no evidence of over-saturation. Well done with getting this behavioral shot of these scarlet macaws…Jim

Beautiful colors, Chuck and a neat behavioral image. I like the subdued treatment of the background which works well even with the large depth of field.

Nice sharp shot of a pair of colorful beauties. Well done.

Hi Charles,
Nice to get both birds sharp and in that drinking pose. They contrast so well against the surroundings. Very nice frame.

Excellent detail and color. The birds pop so well against the natural habitat. Superb DOF!
