Description
I saw this species of fishing spiders on two different occasions recently. The first at a local nature center and the second in the lake spillway behind my house. The first was on a lily pad and the second was resting on the foam and leaf in a small pool.

Allen: Really cool looking critter. When viewing the thumbnails I had an immediate preference for the first image on the lily pad but in the large views where the foam details are more apparent I like that a lot too. Seeing the different POV is nice too. Good find and fine captures. >=))>
Very fine images of this spider, but I don’t think the folks than named it can count very well. Both images are very interesting and executed beautifully.
What great spiders! The first image in particular is really cool - great angle, sharp, and perfect colourful BG. The water drops add an extra touch.
Great find and processing!
Nice find and capture, Allen. I think I like the second shot the best just because you are more eye level with him. Yeah, I wonder how it got it’s name because there are more than six spots on him. Very nice.
Very cool!! Great to get so close and still get great pictures! Both are wonderful! No nits!
Both very interesting shots. I just prefer the first - I find the bright BG in the second a little overpowering, and you could also lighten the spider’s body a bit, but that’s personal taste. It is a super close-up. @Dennis_Plank , I share your feelings about weird nomenclature. Why not just “Spotted” and don’t make us waste time counting?
Mike - great macro seminar, huh?
@Sandy Yes, indeed - watch it if you haven’t yet done so, macro-lovers.
