Caught in first light of the morning hitting the snow. This Chestnut Back Chickadee seemed to be enjoying the winter conditions.

Is the color balance okay?
Too much snow on the bottom?

Lovely light on this little cutie!! Wonderful sharpness and tonal detail.
My personal preference would be to crop some from the bottom and left and have more room on top. I wonder about a little higher exposure, but might need to protect the snow.
Here is a re crop with higher exposure on the bird.

I prefer the higher exposure (more chestnutty) , but like the original crop, with subdued snow. What a fine bird!
I would select the bird and lighten it just a bit without lightening the snow or the background. I also like the original crop, as it gives a good sense of the bird’s environment. And it certainly is a very handsome bird!
I would vote for the cropped version. I like the larger and brighter look at the chickadee and it is not as overwhelmed by the snow. Nice background, too.
Hi David
I read the comments and would vote on staying with your first posting. The closed-up has great detail and coloring, but the first shot tells a better story.
