Snow Cone Hunbora

Hunbora, Senja, Norway

Quite probably my absolute favourite sequence of mountain shots that I have ever taken. I doubt they will appeal to everyone and the 99% of the tonal range strays from white to very light grey but I find it hugely appealing in its simplicity of light shade and form with all the attention directed to that simple sunlit

cone of snow just peeping above the other shaded peaks.

Fuji XT-1, 55-200mm zoom, f/5.6, 1/800 Sec, ISO 200 (handheld)

Ian, the “all white” view looks great, especially with the extra brightness on the distant peak and the black ridge outlines. It’s a very moody view with lots of drama in it’s simplicity.

Ian,

Imagery at it’s best. I so enjoy the quality of work you always bring here. This is up there among the best. Looking forward to the others from the series.

I remember back in the day, there was a saying along the lines that a successful b&w print had “black blacks” and “white whites.” Well, I see the exposed rock on the peak there has some rich blacks in the rock - so you’re good.

This isn’t working for me. Without a written description I can’t figure out what I’m looking at.

Very artistic, and agreed that it probably won’t appeal to all. I’d play with sharpening this a little less.
