Snowy Trees, Banff

Image(s)

Image Description

My very first visit to Banff in late November was a dream come true for me. My husband and I arrived just as the season’s first winter storm swept through, covering everything in a gentle layer of snow. This cluster of snow-topped conifers looked like a miniature bonsai garden. I hear the latest version of LR has enhanced snow masking features and looking forward to checking that out when processing winter images this season.

I just love photographing trees that I find gestural and interesting and curious of others find trees as compelling a subject as I do

Pertinent Technical Details

Beth: I love Banff and although this could be anywhere I know it will bring you fond memories. I love the mood you’ve captured here and the soft color palette. Well seen and very nicely captured.>=))>

This is just simply lovely, with the trees standing out against the softly fading BG. And thumbs up on loving to shoot trees – they feel like ancestors to me.

Beth, You have a beautiful keepsake with this image. You captured the detail the main trees without losing the stormy or foggy mood in the sky. Also, the two bushes and tiny conifer in the foreground provide an interesting lead-in to the image and add nice balance. You have a winter gem.

These snowy scenes are always so soothing and you’ve done a great job of achieving that mood here Beth. The clouds and fog in the background work to simplify the landscape here, making those few trees in the foreground stand out. And the high key look works so well. Great job.

Thank you so much, Bill, and happy new year to you!

Thank you, Diane! Glad that I have a fellow “tree geek” here!

Thank you, Larry! I agree, I liked the subtle colors in the foreground bushes too, thank you for noticing that

I appreciate that, Ted, thank you!

You chose a beautiful clump of trees for this composition, Beth, and the snow was just perfect. I don’t have any suggestions. It’s a lovely image as composed and presented.
