Description
At the beginning of February this year, I spent several days hiking with my wife in Forest Quarter, the north-western part of the Austrian state of Lower Austria. This region is well know for rough weather conditions, especially also longer periods of dens fog. In winter, this may lead to persisting hoar frost. This month it came together with delicate snowfall. Reaching a silvan glade in a dense forest, this solitary pine exposed to the wintry weather draw my attention.

I Like this, Peter. I can see what attracted you. I like how you kept separation between the lower limb and the tree on the left. Normally I would be against the “merge” of the lower limbs and the BG trees, but the snow/mist provides plenty of separation so that’s not an issue.
The forest must have been a wonderland, and you found a wonderful scene to record the experience! The foggy atmosphere has given the background trees a classic beauty. I have no suggestions except print and hang.
Hi Peter,
This winter scene has a wonderful peaceful vibe that I find very inviting. I could see myself standing there soaking up the stillness and quiet as the snow is gently falling down around me. I am also very much enjoying the soft color palette as well as the mist/fog in the BG. My only tiny suggestion would be maybe a small crop of about 1/3 rd of the sky above the evergreen. This is beautifully done!
Peter, you’ve done a fine job of capturing both this isolated tree and the snowy conditions. I like the bluish tone as that emphasizes the cold. The main tree is well isolated from the rest of the forest.
