I found this Funnelweb spider web after a brief rain. These spiders build their webs very close to the ground, hence the blades of grass seen beneath the web. The water drops show both refraction (imaging the grass behind) and reflection (the white sky above). I was struck by the variety of drop sizes.

The web is not flat, so the drops are at different distances from the camera. A 21 shot stack to get most of the drops sharp.
Really nice image Mark. There are so many rain drops that I had to look carefully for a while to find the smallest ones. Great job with the focus stacking. Did you use Photoshop, or some other software for stacking?
A fascinating look inside the drops, Mark. It might look good here with a small white border as the website BG is dark, but borders are personal taste. Great stacking to achieve this.
Ted, I do not use Photoshop because it’s masking approach to stacking leaves oof areas in the middle of sharp areas. (That’s been true since 2012 and the problem was still there two years ago, the last time I tested.) I’ve been using Helicon focus and like the results a lot, plus they keep updating their software and it keeps getting better.
Awesome array of water drops, Mark. That one bright area toward the right side had me baffled for quite a while until I decided it must be a really big drop.
Mark, outstanding work here. The scene naturally created took some fine thoughts and skill to make it work as well as we see here. The stacking paid off big time…
Mark: I love all those little lenses and how stacking makes this possible. Would be really hard to render this well in a single capture. I also find it interesting how well the software found the sharp areas in every lens. Exceptionally well done IMO. >=))>
