Dropstract

Image Description

Strands of spider web are great for droplets. Here I took a shot from a few years ago and played around with Photoshop and Nik HDR Efex. The result showed a mix of reflection, refraction, flare (and maybe diffraction too?).

I am curious about what gave rise to the magentas around the left drops and the greens around the right ones, as I often get a gradient of these 2 colors when shooting a spider’s web at a certain angle. The result is usually not to my liking, but I like what happened here.

Mike, the colorful strings just need a parade going by below…. When I’m stacking and there’s are specular highlights (like you have here), Helicon oftens adds some bright green or bright magenta in the surrounds. LIke you, I’m not sure where that comes from…my suspicion is that one or two of the three channels are not totally saturated so the software pick up that color.

Mike: I had a lot of fun looking for the sharp images in the drop/lenses. I kind of wish the really nice ones weren’t so close to the edge of the frame but so it goes. Nicely seen and captured. >=))>
