Stormy Cobble Beach

I was not expecting to see the sun make an appearance this particular morning due to the heavy cloud cover, but to my surprise there it was at the perfect moment. It was quite windy and it made for some lovely wave action although I had to wipe the front of the lens a few times due to water drops. There were several other photographers there all strung out on either side of me all clicking away. This is one of those locations in Acadia NP that has become so crowded with photographers that it has forced me to find other spots to enjoy.

As always thanks for taking a moment to leave a thought.

Ed, this is a great scene, with the small bit of red around the sun in a very stormy scene. The details in the cobbles show well (are the big ones still called cobbles???) and make a good contrast with all of the wave action. Quite the change from Cape Henlopen.

Lovely, Ed. Beautiful colors and composition. Looks like a place I would love to watch the sunrise. Nicely done.

I can almost smell the salt and the seaweed! Acadia is a spot I’ve never visited despite living in NH for over 40 years and even working in Maine for a time. It was too crowded and we couldn’t get a hotel room even in the off season. Oh well. This is lovely. I like that you didn’t do a super long exposure. The pastels throughout the image are subtle, but effective. The light value/luminosity from sea to sky looks odd though…maybe the waves are too bright in comparison? Not sure…

One of my favorites of yours, Ed. You’ve really captured the essence of that morning perfectly. I feel like I’m standing there with you. :+1:
