Stump Lump and Bump - B&W

Image Description

This is a tree stump located in a dry wash. Being in a dry wash it was not too tough on the knees for the setup and sequence of images. I liked the broken limb nodules, wood textures and swirling grain patterns.

Very intriguing! The texture is fascinating, and the whole image has an almost psychedelic quality… it really captures the viewer. Very well seen and composed…

Paul, I remember this “dog face”. It looks great and is good for a big grin.

@Gill_Vanderlip @Antonello_Provenzale @marianne2 @Mark_Seaver thank you for the reviews and comments on this old weathered stump.
Mark, I’d forgotten about the visual spin on this portraiture as it were. Exvellent recall… :+1:

I think this is very, very cool! Looks like you took advantage of a great opportunity – but, please, let’s not talk about knees…

@Diane_Miller thank you for your comment here, I appreciate your thoughts on this image. I’m the only one in my family with working knees. Both brothers who played football all the way thru college are under full treatments and up for possible replacements too. Although, at 13 years of age I had a tumor removed from my right knee I played sports thru HS & Military without any issues…thankfully.

This has a great dynamic feel, Paul. The detail and tonal range are both excellent. No nits to pick.

Fortunately, my knees are holding up after decades of climbing, hiking, military, and general abuse.

Thanks for the tip about the E-6 lab in my earlier my earlier thread. I’m still not sure if I want to get back into LF, but I still have all my gear if I decide to go that route.

Again, nice image with lots of implied movement.

Thank you, Preston. Good to hear your knees are functioning well at our ripe old age. I recall your outings of climbing in your earlier years. Although I did sports from 7 years old until well into my 40’s I never sustained any major breaks. That all changed years later when I broke my ankle. Still out and about now. But my brother and I don’t call it hiking anymore, it’s referred to as staggering.
I still use my LF but use the MF mostly for lens choices overall…take care !
