Sundew with bloomstalk

My wife has added some carnivorous plants to her collection to catch the gnats that she finds almost impossible to get rid of. Her Sundew is so happy that it’s getting ready to bloom. (7D2, 180mm macro, 1/50 s, f/14, iso 800, tripod and cable release, 26 shot stack)

What a neat plant, Mark. I never heard of it, and that it has a nice function, getting rid of pesty gnats! I love the composition very much. Are the “dew drops” a part of the plant, and maybe what attracts the gnats? The colors are scrumptious with a nice smooth BG. Love everything about this.

I’m with @Shirley_Freeman on this one, Mark, just an outstanding photo. If feels like you’ve taken a separate photo for each of the droplets. It is just perfect.

That thing looks dangerous! Wonderful stack!

Shirley, these are bog plants that live in nutrient poor bogs and get much of their nutrition from the insects that they catch and devour (like Flytraps and Pitcher Plants). The “dew drops” are extremely sticky and full of digestive enzymes.
