I rolled out of bed between 6 and 6:30 AM, grabbed my Fujifilm X100v, and set off to explore the sunrise seascape just outside our motel door. The unusual mottled sky set off by complementary orange and yellow sunrise captivated me. And the horizontal orange line just below the horizon added to my inspiration. The reflection of the sun creates a nice leading line and the silhouetted dunes in the foreground create interest and depth.

Larry: What a great way to start the day! I like all your decisions and think you have just the right amount of landform to provide a foundation and the centered sun works for me as well. Beautiful scene superbly rendered. >=))>
Larry, this is a beauty, with some great clouds in the top half. The clouds partly covering the sun let it show well, without dominating the scene (or blowing out completely) and the sun’s reflection does a good job of connecting the near and the far.
Nicely done. I agree with the points made by the others. There is just enough of the landform to anchor the image, and that horizontal line is a nice touch.
I am wondering, though, if the blue in the sky is a bit oversaturated?
Regardless, this is a nice image and a great way to start the day!

Preston, Thanks for viewing this image. The sky is pretty deep blue. I did quite little in editing the image and did not pump up the blue or alter the sky. The whole scene was changing by the minute as would be expected. I think the dark blue relates to the transition from night to daylight. Thanks for your input.
Hi Larry,
This looks like the perfect way to start the day IMO. The contrasting warm and cool tones work beautifully as does the sunlight skimming across the water towards the viewer. It does a wonderful job of drawing the eye into this coastal landscape. The clouds are also a definite plus to the scene and the amount of landscape along the bottom is perfect for my tastes. Very nicely done; no suggestions from me.
