The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
This Snowy landed while I was photographing a Tri-color. They even got into a fight for the fishing area.
Specific Feedback
I cropped in about 50% I am guessing. I was zoomed out with the Tri-color. Does this work, or should I crop more. I really like the feathers on his chest and head, so wanted to be in fairly well to show that, but also like the environment and the water spray.
Technical Details
Canon R5, Sigma 150-600 mm at 215 mm, HH, manual settings at 1/4000, f6.3, ISO 1250 (on auto). It was somewhat cloudy so it helped to keep the harsh light down since it was probably around 2:30 in the afternoon. Edited in LR.
My first thought when I was looking at the image before reading your description was that this egret had just “Plunked” into the water, your description backed that up for me.
Did you happen to get any images of that action?
I really like the waterdrops in mid-air and the stance with the wing position and the feather detail on his neck and head!
That “Uprush” of water by his legs is what made me think he had just landed, and the look on his face says he’s “Ready for Battle”
Crop looks great as is, Shirley!
I am always impressed with your skill at photography, not just your skill at macro, but avian and other genres as well!
Thank you, @Merv for viewing and your kind comments. Now for me to live up to it!
I said fighting, but really I guess it was more the Snowy chasing the Tri-color around. I have one acceptable shot of both of them up in the air at the same time. Maybe I can get it posted tomorrow.
Hi Shirley, nice pose of this Snowy - a very elegant bird IMO. I like the pose you caught with the water spray adding to the image. The bird is well positioned in the frame. While I like this crop, I think you could see about a crop slightly up from the bottom. Being a horizontal image, I don’t think it would affect the sharpness of the bird as seen here. But that’s just a thought. Nicely seen and taken image.
