Description

I’ve been guilty of flooding the zone this week so my apologies but I hope my love for the Oregon coast is apparent. These are my favorite shots of my favorite lighthouses. The shot of Terrible Tilly was the most challenging as the light is over 2 miles offshore and I had never flown the drone over that much water. I had great conditions though and the flight was uneventful. I’m glad there isn’t a sniffer on the drone because all of those seals hanging out would have been just a little stinky. Heceta Head and Yaquina Head are still active but Tilly was deactivated in 1957.

Technical Details

DJI Mini 3 Pro for all three, ISO 100, f1.7, CPL

Wow Bill, what a nice selection of lighthouses you’ve collected here, each one unique. As a kayaker, I doubt I would ever get close to them unless it’s much calmer than the images portray. They all nicely depict the ferocious waters along the Oregon coast. You had good light in each of them and I like your placement of each in the frame. Your POV is also refreshing compared to typical lighthouse looks. Well done!

Bill, I remember the first post with the lighthouse on the point and the second structure on the right. In all three the action in the water looks great (and quite rough). Are those seals on top of the small outbuilding in #3?? You’ve framed the rock with the pounding serf well.

@Mark_Seaver Are those seals on top of the small outbuilding in #3??

Yes. Makes one wonder why they would want to climb up there.
