The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I took the shot during a hike. I liked the “two legs” of the tree and the roots on the right looking like a hand.
Unfortunately, I can´t add tags, I´m getting server errors when I try.
Update: adding tags after posting and editing it, it works.
Specific Feedback
The picture is cropped just to the bottom of the tree, anything else was not really interesting. Is the crop too tight? I tried also a a tighter crop but the I thought I will lose too much.
A great find, Ralf, and I really like the depth of field and detail in the tree. I do find myself wishing that this were a bit wider and included the full width of the tree at the base. I don’t know how you feel about removing distractions, but the horizontal fallen branch visible in the background through the hole keeps bugging me. The only other nit is that the small gap visible in the right roots makes me want to quibble with your title and call it three legs. I really like the way you framed the background through the hole.
Thank you, Dennis!!
After you mentioned it, I saw the branch
Usually I don´t mind too much, as it was simply there, but now I cannot “unsee” it
I cleaned it up a bit and cropped a bit less.
I’m a big fan of bw forest shots. That branch you cleaned up didn’t bother me until I read the comment and then I couldn’t unsee it either lol. Interesting cool tree, well shot and edited.
Hi Ralf,
This is certainly a tree dripping in mood and character. It makes me wonder how this came to be. I quite like your low POV and the small tweaks in each successive rework have made this image better and better. For my own personal tastes I think @Igor_Doncov nailed it. It has everything you need to tell the story. BTW, this has a wonderful range of tones. Beautifully done!
