This image was inspired by the work of @Eric_Bennett and the gallery that he posted. I hiked into one of my favorite washes in Zion recently and found yards of decaying leaves/oils to shoot. I didn’t realize it at the time and not until I started post did I see the angel taking the leaf under its wing.

I have a friend who’s wife is terminally ill and battling cancer. Metaphorically, this image to me is all about the unlikely survival of something (the colored fall maple leaf still showing signs of life despite the freezing cold and wet of Zion) under the arm of an angel (formed by the oils of the surrounding leaves). Take a minute - its there, just have to look.

Here’s to all those still fighting the fight, those who have fallen and all the “angels” out there doing good in times when its desperately needed.

Very nice colors and shapes. I see the angel

Oh my, this is a special one George. Yes, I see the angel - although quite a contemporary one!

And what an even more special tribute. Very sorry about your friend. I hope you print this for them.

Has to be the prettiest blue I’ve ever seen on a computer monitor…

Fewer words are better.

This is a superb capture, George. Lovely composition and lovely contrast between the colors. When I saw it, I thought it might be a Guy Tal image because it’s similar in both style and color (In case you’re not familiar with Guy’s work, that is a hefty compliment!). The blue really does suck the viewer in and then my eye goes directly to the leaf, which was great. I was able to really study the leaf since there was no other competition for my eye. Once I was able to study the overall image, I was quite impressed by your post processing. Excellent work.

That’s a captivating image George!
The Eric Bennett and Guy Tal references are apt compliments :+1::+1:

A very striking image George, I love it as presented. I love the abstract textures, line and shapes in the blue areas, but then I also enjoy the strong contrast of this area against the yellow leaf. Wonderful image !!!

Quite phenomenal how nature always seems to give us what we need at the most appropriate time. Aside from that however, I love the stark color contrast in this image. It is very alluring and eye catching.

George, this is really quite beautiful and the blue is very soothing to the eye. That seems appropriate given your inspiration for the image. Well seen and brilliantly handled in post processing!

This does have a bit of a nightscape look to it due to the processing. For my taste, this is a bit overprocessed, as much of Guy Tal’s recent work is.

Magnificent.

Very kind of you for the nod to my latest release, George! So happy to hear I could inspire, but I feel you have created something all on your own here! This is a really unique scene. I enjoy the color contrast here a lot and also the flowyness of it. Very cool!

@Lon_Overacker @Bill_Chambers @Darren_Marshall @Ed_McGuirk @Youssef_Ismail @Alan_Kreyger @Igor_Doncov @Eric_Bennett - thanks all for the feedback. Much appreciated!

Bill, thanks for the ref to Guy Tal! I wasn’t familiar with his work. His body of work is impressive for sure. Something to aspire to.

Happy Holidays.

Excellent, George, love the gold leaf against the blues…and yes, I see the angel.

When pictures like this happen, I often wonder if your “subliminal” mind is seeing things that just don’t register in our consciousness where we’re actually taking the picture. This is really beautiful and captures the moment so well.
