Description

Mellon Udrigle, Wester Ross, Scotland.

The title describes the feeling I had on a gorgeous winter morning at Mellon Udrigle which is probably my favourite mainland Scottish beach. It is quite rare to have a mountain backdrop on the horizon, rarer still to find the mountains dusted with snow so close to the coast and equally unusual to have such a perfect winter morning to enjoy it. Not a blemish on the beach newly swept clean, caramel coloured rocks melting into the sand. It really was sublime and after a few chosen shots I just sat there nestled between dune grass enjoying the moment.

Very nice Ian.

Here in Brisbane AU its hard to fathom snow capped mountains backing up a beach scene but here it is!

There’s a lot to look at here. I find it a nice, restful image with the soft light and longish exposure. The stand-outs for me are of course the background mountains but I find the light and shadows on the foreground beach and rocks attract the eye. Your crop works a treat.

Good work, Ian. I like the lighting, the colors, and the zig-zag composition.
