I’m sorry to all of you for not being on the scene lately. I was away for 2 1/2 weeks, and then while out walking Tuesday after getting back Monday, my smartwatch kept warning me that my heart rate was too high even though I hadn’t picked up the pace. When I got home and checked my blood pressure that was high too. I guess the stress of caregiving, car accident, GI bleed, and losing my husband all within a short time has caught up with me. So, I have been to a couple of doctors and have more appointments ahead. I will try to do better at reviewing and commenting when I can. Thank you all for your patience, and to Bill for taking care of the Macro category.
OMG Shirley! I was just thinking about you the other day and meant to send you a PM, but got distracted and I’m sorry about that. Your stress load sounds like it was enormous and no wonder things are out of whack. I hope that you get your health back and can unload a lot of what’s winding you up. We will be here when you’re ready.
Thank you, Kris. I just pray that I haven’t done any lasting damage. I go for an Echocardiogram Monday and they will be able to see the heart. In the meantime, blood pressure medicine and deep breathing exercises to keep the BP and heart rate down.
Take care of that heart, Shirley. We’re all cheering for you.
Shirley, I’m so sorry to hear about everything you’ve been going through – all within such a short time – is an immense burden for anyone to bear.
If I may offer a suggestion, I’ve found that meditation can be incredibly helpful in these stressful situations. The Medito Foundation has a wonderful app to get you started, and it’s completely free. You can find it at https://meditofoundation.org/medito-app. It might provide some moments of peace amidst all you’re dealing with.
Please don’t stress about participating here. Only engage if it brings you joy and comfort. Your health and well-being should be your primary focus right now. We all understand and support you.
Take care of yourself, Shirley. We’re here for you.
Thank you, David. I do find it relaxing to meditate on verses in the Bible, especially the Psalms. I start my day with that, but I think maybe I need to do more of it throughout the day. I really appreciate you taking the time to send this note and the link. I will check it out.
Shirley
My very best wishes for getting through all this, Shirley. It is a huge load and we are all rooting for you! Please feel free to connect here in any way, and to be absent when you have other things to occupy your time and mind. We will bumble on!
Take care!! We are rooting for you to be back soon, but only when you are ready!
Shirley, having some knowledge about your situation, I wasn’t worried about your participation…just your mental health. Besides that, it can be mentally refreshing to take some time away. Sure hope your health situation calms down. I do find sitting in the garden (or other natural area) waiting quietly for something to catch my eye relaxing…sometimes I don’t even carry my camera.
Thank you, @Kris_Smith @Dennis_Plank @David_Kingham @Diane_Miller @Mark_Seaver for your kind thoughts. I really do appreciate it.
I would ditto the advice on meditation. I would join a weekly meditation group if u can find one locally. A lot of churches hold them too. It was a lifesaver for me years ago. And i am returning to a daily pratice now. Do take care of yourself.

Thank you, Peter. I appreciate you being there for me. I feel like the stress of it all is pretty well over so was surprised to have the blood pressure and heart rate to go high on me while on a blood pressure medicine. Now I am on 2. I get the echocardiogram tomorrow so hopefully we will know what seems to be causing it, or if any damage has been done from it.
You have gone through quite a bit yourself. I hope your health is holding up well.
Again, thank you.
Shirley
Shirley, we have missed you! But taking care of yourself and your health must be #1 - hope you’re much better soon.
Your health is far more important than reviewing images. Take care of yourself first.
Please take care of you. You’ve been thru a lot in a short period of time and the body is saying slow down and digest it all. Prayers and hugs to you.
Shirley,
Sorry to hear of your troubles (and your loss! very sorry!) - 100%! take care of your health! Take care of yourself - photography can be great therapy - but let that happen… take care of yourself!
Shirley, sorry to be so late to this thread. I see you’re back at it as strong and faithful as ever. We so appreciate everything you and the other moderators are doing for us here at NPN. We are all in your corner, hoping that your health, both physical and mental recover completely and quickly. Glad you’re back on your feet and taking some pics again. Sometimes there are shadows and valleys, and sometimes there are still waters and green pastures.
Shirly, I’m sorry that you are experiencing all of these things and I hope that you feel better soon. I have been very busy and am not able to attend NPN as much as before. Health is something we all take for granted and when something goes wrong it adds to the stress. I’m glad that you got everything checked out and hope to see you often on NPN. I’m also sorry for your loss and I provide my condolences and thoughts for you. As Always, Jim
Thank you, Jim. I went up to my brother’s in Virginia to go on a boat birding trip around the barrier islands but started having trouble feeling like I was going to pass out. I had to cancel that of course. We didn’t think it a good idea for me to drive back home, so my brother and his wife drove down halfway and friends from here met us and drove me and my Blazer back home. Now I am just trying to take it easy until I see the cardiologist on Thurs. Stress of all that I have gone through lately is probably the cause. My heart rate shoots up all of a sudden and that is when I about passed out. The almost passing out is new. The heart monitor they had me on for a week showed the heart rate jumping up but I wasn’t feeling like I was going to pass out till this week.
Thank you for kind comments and your condolences. I do appreciate it.
Shirley
Hi Shirley, I’m sorry that you have had so much to deal with in such a short period of time. Sometimes our body just has a way of telling us when to slow down, relax and regroup. Get some medical issues nipped in the bud and then start again. I hope that you are feeling better soon and are out shooting once again. Take care!
