This was taken earlier last year in the mountains above San Diego. This is nearly 60% of full frame. Sunlight was rather harsh. But earlier in the day there would be no sun at all on this stump.

@David_Schoen - Nice capture. Pose is great with the nice view of the back plumage. The perch is what it is… Light looks fine to me and the background is a nice complement to the image.
This is a nice photo. I like the pose of the bird and the stump. The grays and browns of the stump compliment the colors of the bird nicely. I think you handled the lighting very well.
