Wow, excellent catch !! Unusual bird in a nice pose, tack-sharp, bright eye and interesting twig, all with a complimentary BG.
The OOF branch adds interest for me, but I can see others feeling it should go. It does balance the image.
I also like the crop to showcase this beauty, but you might also experiment with more room on the top and right.
There is something funky about the top of the left branch. It looks like a poor Gen Fill or clone? Should be easy to correct in a do-over.
Lovely image!

A beautiful shot - I can’t see it needing improvement. I agree with Sandy that the oof branch balances the comp. You get some cool sparrows- we only have 2 species in Korea, and I’ve only ever seen the common one!

Hi Allen
Nice looking Sparrow, with great detail, eyes contact and coloring. May be it’s me, but I am a little over powered by the size of the Sparrow in the frame. I would like to a little more space around the bird.

I agree with the comments made thus far, Allen. I do see the funky area that @SandyR-B mentioned and my first feeling on opening this was that it was pretty tight in the frame, but I don’t know what you had to deal with around it. Beautiful job on the bird. We’ve only had one show up here that I’ve seen.

Love white throats. So cute and sometimes frisky when you get a bunch together. I don’t mind the tightness as the branches balance things so nicely. Terrific frame and background. Would this be non-breeding plumage, do you think?

Excellent subject, pose with a clean view of the bird and interesting perch and BG. The bird has very nice sharpness and detail. The crop/composition works very well for my taste. The only thing I would suggest it to clone out the top-leftmost leaf on the branch in the upper left – it looks odd – maybe natural but it seems to have a face!

Hi Kristen, Yes, I think this is non-breeding plumage. From what I can see in my books, the adults (breeding?) have a black crown.

Thanks, @SandyR-B , @Dennis_Plank , @Mike_Friel , @Kris_Smith , @Diane_Miller , and @Peter_Morrissey for your input. I’ve reposted the image to correct some of the problems you pointed out. There was originally a branch coming in horizontally from the left right on top of the brand the bird is on and I attempted to remove it. Hopefully I did a better job on the repost. I also didn’t crop it as much, as I agree the bird could use some more room. Thanks again.

Allen - nice job on the re-post! The extra room improves this nicely.
There is still just a bit of “funkiness” in those top left branches, but barely noticeable unless enlarged a lot.
Great catch, here!

Allen, White-throated Sparrows are a favorite winter bird of mine, especially their melancholy song at dusk and dawn. This is a great look at this one. The subtle changes in the repost add well to an already fine view.

I like the colors that you captured on this WTS. The BG is very nice especially with the repost. This species is very challenging to get out in the open as they prefer to conceal themselves even when singing. Well done…Jim
