Sounds like typical shooting conditions for bitterns, Jagdeep. They love to hide. I like the prey in the beak-I’ve never managed to catch them with anything big enough to show as more that some unidentifiable little silvery thing.

The face is nice and sharp in this image and the fish adds a lot. Nice job on the processing.

Excellent hunting shot. I really like the detail in the bittern, the fish, and the overall environment. Great capture.

Really nice catch, Jagdeep. The meal in the beak is a great touch too. They looks so much like the American Bittern’s we see around here. I’m not sure I could tell them apart. Great image.

Great catch, for both of you! Marvelous light here, nice action and pose, and very complimentary BG. If it were mine, I’d remove that branch and light area behind the head, and darken the bright leaf above the beak to keep emphasis on the great fish.
Sweet image!

Really good photo as the bird is sharp and detailed with the added touch of the fish in its mouth. The surrounding greenery adds to the scene as an environmental touch. My only suggestion would be to remove the trunk and branch of the shrub behind the head as it is distracting.

This is a great, intimate look at a very difficult bird to get in the clear Jagdeep. Nicely done.
