This year I have primarily photographed when on photo tours to different places in Norway and Sweden, such as Lofoten, Vesterålen, the region south of Bodö and Härjedalen. Since a few years ago, I have shifted from photographing only smaller scenes to also include larger landscapes. The 10 images included in the showcase has been chosen to reflect this , ranging from larger landscapes to smaller scenes to macro.
The only interesting technical note is that the last image is a macro image of a very small thing, just a few millimeters in size. To achieve this I used the Olympus 90 mm macro (4x in full frame equivalent) focus stacking 200 images, to make the BG calm and at the same time get enough DOF.
Ola, good to see a post from you. These are all fine images. The Aurora shows very good structure and a fine reflection. You’ve got some amazingly stormy skies and that glacial river with sculpted rocks is realy eye candy.
It looks like you had a great year, Ola. Every image in this group is stunning in it’s own way and I just had to laugh at the surfers. I know photographers do crazy things, but that just looks insane.
How nice to see your work again, Ola! These are wonderful. The human element in the third one really makes the scene - those guys/gals are tough! The subtle reflection in the fourth one is mesmerizing, as is the tiny settlement with lights. The dewdrops on the floating leaf makes me think of an alligator poking its head out of the water. All are great, though.
wow such a wonderful collection! I love these images! Especially the monochrom images! The water in the Third one is amazing! Did you shoot that in infrared? wonderful series and a very inspiring photographic year!
Very nice set of photographs @Ola_Jovall . I like the fourth and fifth ones down… the colors are beautiful. Keep experimenting new approaches… it’s a journey.
When taking images I have always been drawn to color, but when looking at images taken by others I have always loved B&W images. Therefore, I have since a while tried to force my brain to see the world in B&W when out photographing. So I am very pleased that you liked the momochrome ones.
Thanks! I do not post very often here at NPN, and that is primarily due to that I have not been very keen to commenting on images. But with this post I just want to show that I am still alive!
These two images were taken during the same day in the same area (Lahko National Park, Norway). The one to the right is a balancing approximately man-high boulder, the one to the left show five small pebbles less than an inch long laying on a rock surface with grooves created by the inland ice approximately 10 000 years ago. I liked the juxtaposition here between large and small, but also between the unchangeable (grooves and boulder itself) and easily moved (pebbles)/unstable (boulder position).
They were acually out surfing a few moments after I took this image. Crazy! We were a bit worried but they seemed to manage it well.
No, it is an ordinary digital image taken just when the light of the day were fading away for the darkness.
It’s so good to see what you’ve been doing this past year Ola. And, congratulations for such an amazing collection of images. I enjoy your small scenes, but am really enjoying your journey into the large scenes too. All of these are exceptional, but that surfer image is a real treat. Merry Christmas!
