Small flowers very like to broom flowers (lotus corniculatus). They are very common in the fields here. The flowers of this leguminous plant are small but nice for their colors and the transparencies due to the back light.

No, the background works in this image. What a delightful flower. The back lighting really emphasizes the fan shape details, and your dof is perfect, as always.
You’re back lighting work is superb, as always, Gigi. I love the circular arrangement of the blooms and the light through the leaves as well as the flowers. This doesn’t have anything to do with the inherent beauty of the photograph, but with the dark background on this site, the edge of the image kind of blends into it, so you might want to put a border around this one.
