About This Image

There is so much diversity on display at low tide on the Oregon Coast. While over there last week for really low tides, I saw these green “wings” draped over a rock. I found out that it is Breadcrumb Sponge. Additionally, there was algae, seaweed, kelp, anemones, sea stars, mussels, and barnacles. I was able to get a photo of a nudibranch, chiton, and two mystery life forms that I have yet to identify.

To me, this is a nice, natural, abstract Chris. The wide ranges of colours and textures work really well together, and your interpretation makes perfect sense with the ‘wings’ and the opaque, ghostly body of the angel underneath. The more I look at it, the more I want to look again to explore all of the little details.

@Phil_G Thank you for your great comments.

Chris: Oh this is so Oregon! My grandmother had a house on the beach at Yachats and I would spend all day cavorting on and around the rocks surrounded by scenes like this. Alas, I was at least 40 years or more away from appreciating the photographic appeal and possibilities. Now every time I get back to the coast I look a lot more intently. Nice find and a fine comp and capture. >=))>

Thanks, Bill. Sounds like an idyllic time at your grandmother’s.
