Description

Another of our hardy perennials is this wedding rose. They usually come up a couple of weeks after the blizzard of snow drops and this year they are right on time. This is the first bloom of what I hope will be many more.>=))>

Specific Feedback

Windy today so the high ISO and fast SS. DxO really does a nice job on these higher ISO images; many thanks to Dennis Plank for steering me in that direction. The only thing that I’m not sure of is the shadow on the leaf on the left edge. It was pretty hard so I softened it quite a bit. Your thoughts?

A beautiful flower, very well photographed, Bill. The only thing I’ve seen in bloom yet is a dandelion, though the daffodils aren’t far from it. I think the density of the shadow on the leaf is ok, but I wonder if it’s possible to blend the edges in to make the transition from the sunlit portions a bit less abrupt? I’m not quite sure how to handle that, but there has to be a way with all the adjustment options available today.

Bloom? What is this bloom of which you speak?

Bill, you’re way ahead of us here in CT, with 2 feet of snow on the ground, so really jealous. Nice sharpness and detail showing, with little noise to speak of. I like the left-facing pose with the 3 buds in the background too and the light is perfect. The shadow doesn’t bother me as much as the presence of the leaf itself; the flower seems a bit cramped with little “breathing room” on the left. Of course, you may have had few options to deal with that in reality. A fine capture none the less.

Bill, another very nice floral photograph. As I do very little closeup and macro I can only say everything looks spot on for my tastes. The softening you mention seems excellent from my perspective… :+1: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Bill, this is a beautiful flower and captured well. Nothing here in NC, not even dandelions, but the blooming pear tree is budding out so hoping by the end of the week I will have flowers and bees to photograph.
