Description
On my last full day in Oregon I was staying at Harris Beach State Park. The day was gray and uninspiring and my hopes for getting some images along the Samuel Boardman Scenic Byway were fading. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself but decided to grab the camera and my 24-105 and just walk the beach. I ended up with over 500 images! There were all kinds of interesting things in the surf line and on the rocks and I had to stop when I ran out of battery. This was one of my favorites. Hope to post a small series of these images. All comments welcome. >=))>

Bill, I am so glad you grabbed the camera with the 24-105 lens on it and took a walk. This shot is really neat. So much to look at. Wonderful patterns. Because to my old eyes some of the bottom left doesn’t look as sharp, I am wondering if you would have a better shot if you were to use the top half and make a horizonal composition, placing the shell in the bottom third. Just a thought. Looking forward to seeing more of those 500 images. I haven’t had anything macro lately. Of course I am looking in my yard, and not much there this time of year.
The beaches always provide inspiration for me as well, Bill. As far as critique goes, I echo the input of @Shirley_Freeman, except I might crop it even tighter if you have the pixels. I took the liberty of doing so to see what it might look like:
Oh wow, I love this! The barnacle rock really sets off the mussel shell both in texture and pattern, but also color. Quite eye-catching. Please do post a series. You might get me brave enough to post a beach sequence I shot this summer while I was in Maine.
And I hear you about the photographer blues when nothing lights up your brain. But you worked through it and found something that did. Makes the whole thing worth it.
