The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I was lining up some photos of this pretty flower in the afternoon light when this moth landed on it. I got a few of it while it was on the flower, but it was when it took off that I got this. I think it gives it a nice sense of motion but you can still see what it is.
Specific Feedback
I like the shape of the stem moving through the frame, but is it too much with the leaf on the lower right?
I tried to keep the saturation in check, but as I moved it around, I would lose the moth’s wings. Too much on the petals?
Too much motion?

Patrick, I prefer the square crop. A higher f number would have got you more focus, with maybe a bit on the moth, but I do like the swirling effect - it looks like it’s dancing to me. And the wings have a pleasant painterly appearance.
Patrick, I like the square best too. For me a bit more sharpness all around would be my preference, but I too like the “dance” look we get. Just a reminder, we are to submit only one image to a category each day. If the date/time stamp is correct, it appears you posted 2 images on the same day.
Patrick, I’ll be the contrarian…I like the vertical because of the strong upward eye movement along the stem fits with the moth’s movement. I would suggest some dodging of the leaf, so it plays a bigger role in the viewing (along with removing the bright spot on the leaf).
Patrick: I’m with Mark on preferring the vertical. My only concern with the leaf is it leaving the frame. I did some quick and dirty “pruning”. My only other wish would be for a bit more DOF on the flower center but to get enough shutter speed you would need to bump the ISO but since you had a lot to work with in that regard I think you could go to ISO 400 or even 800 and get similar image quality. Nicely done. >=)).
Thanks @Mike_Friel , @Shirley_Freeman@Mark_Seaver & @Bill_Fach. I didn’t realize until after I had this shot I was at ISO 100. (I think I was doing some ICM before this.) Anyway, yes more DOF would have been good. Bill, I think the leaf going out of the frame was what was bothering me about it most. A little “pruning” is a good idea.
Shirley, thanks for the reminder on posting. I have been so infrequent the past few months, I was just excited to have some things to share. Again, thanks for all the help here.
