The image is from a recent trip to Pacific Rim National Park in British Columbia. It was low tide and I was looking for sea stars but no luck. It was getting dark very fast and there was a beautiful view in front of me that I had to shoot even without tripod.

Natalya: Beautiful scene and I think you did really well. I like the glow of the sun and the reflections on the beach. The shoreline gives a nice leading line through the scene and your handling of the shadowed rocks is top notch as well. About the only thing that might be better is if the rock on the left side wasn’t cut off but that’s a pretty minor nit. Nicely crafted image. >=))>
Natalya, this is wonderful. The reflection of the sunset is mesmerizing and the play of dark and light very compelling.
I agree that cut-off left rock is not ideal, but a very fine image!
Thank you Bill and Sandy, you are right the cut-off rock is not the best and I should have checked my edges. Never thought of it.
I did have another one with the complete rock, but I thought the composition is not so good.
Natalya, this is a fine sunset view, where you’ve got lots of interesting detail and eye movement in the foreground. I don’t find the cut off rock to be a problem as it’s acting as an eye stop in the lower left. Comparing your original post with the alternate view, they’re both very good, but I do prefer the original as the alternate lacks interest on the left. BTW, if you want to make it easy to compare the two, go in and edit the original post (pencil button), adding your redo or alternate. Then indicate the change in the title. Doing it that way lets the viewer “page back and forth” between the two (or more) versions, which shows off the changes very well.
Lovely. You have just the right amount of detail in the shadows. The textures in the sand and water are nice. The clouds in the sky set off and frame the sun nicely. This is beautifully composed and a pleasure to look at.
