Danger in Gold

I found this color matched crab spider cocked and ready in a goldenrod bloom on a recent walk. Interestingly, there was another crab spider devouring a small butterfly on a different bloom of the same plant. An 11 shot stack. (7D2, 180 mm macro, 1/400 s, f/10, iso 800, tripod)

Mark, what a great face on shot of this guy. I can certainly see how his prey would not easily see him in the Golden Rod, he really is camouflaged. Such details of the Crab Spider, amazing. Great shot.

Totally amazing photo Mark. I am impressed that you saw this little fellow among the Golden Rod. Very nicely seen and captured.

Wonderful image Mark. The matching colors here really tell a story with the spider ready to pounce. Very well composed also with the spider atop the flowers.
Terrific!

Mark: Great vision to see this stealthy predator. Excellent comp and a fine stack. :+1:t2: :+1:t2:>=))>

Wow! A nicely camouflaged spider spotted well. Nice stackwork and placement of the spider. Great face to face image.
