The swan goose (Anser cygnoides) is a large goose with a natural breeding range in inland Mongolia, northernmost China, and the Russian Far East. While uncommon in the wild, this species has been domesticated.

Wow, interesting bird here Tony and finding a pretty clear shot through all the reeds must have been a challenge. I like all the environment around them as part of the story, and you have two swan geese, each striking a different pose. Exposure and colors are great and good detail throughout.

Thanks, Jim. I wasn’t sure what I would get through all that cover but, as you mentioned, I liked the two opposite poses so well I had to try.

Very nice catch of an interesting species. The busy environment works well here, especially with the camouflage coloration.

There seem to be so many species of geese, and I assume some cross-breeding in some of the ones I see around my area.

Interesting looking geese, Terry and a great job on the focus and depth of field. Nicely done.

Thanks @Diane_Miller. Though I enjoy bird photography and have decent knowledge of the passerines and their close relatives, I know little about waterfowl. These geese were new to me.
