Description
The first two of this species that I have seen this year took advantage of hot sunshine to indulge in a little dalliance. Top one is female.
Specific Feedback
They usually mate almost at ground level - but this pair didn’t object to my raising their perch to get some sky in. Does this help the composition?
Technical Details
OM-1 + 60mm macro 1/800 f9 ISO 800
In LR cooled the WB temp a little. Lightened the female with the adjustment brush; then general tonal treatment. Denoise. In PS, Shadows, Highlights and Curves. Darkened brighter grasses and cropped.
Beautiful image, Mike. My first instinct was that a plainer background would be nice, but this is far more indicative of the time of year and habitat in which you’d find these beauties. I suppose for a field guide illustration a plain background might be nice, but I like this as posted.
Great capture, Mike. I love the colors of the and they did you a nice favor placing them in a good position with the background. This helped bring them out very clearly. You were at the right place at the right time.
Mike: Terrific capture of the butterflies but for me the bright green leaf is a major distraction and competitor. Cropping this to a portrait orientation and eliminating the leaf makes this much stronger IMO. Back to you. >=))>
