The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
As some of you might know, I have a special love for dunes. If I only got to photograph one subject for the rest of my life, it would be dunes. There is something about them I connect with on a very deep level.
On this particular morning, the light was beyond magical, the light and shadows bringing out the incredible patterns, shapes and lines of the dunes.
I hope this image brings you even a fraction of the joy I experienced during that magical moment…
Specific Feedback
Any and all feedback welcomed.

Hi Fritz,
You have managed to create a wonderful sense of depth in this scene with the alternating diagonal bands of shadow and light. I love the lack of scale here and your joy of capturing this moment comes through to the viewer. Beautifully done!
Oh Yum. It really is a delicious experience to roam the eye through this image. I guess I’m trying to say I get a visceral experience. Much like you described yourself. And very clever how the blues in the shadows complement the creamy pale golds in the light. I especially enjoy the contrasty curve top right. It hints to me that there’s more, but serves to keep me returning to the center. I love sand dunes too….Ever heard of Alastair Benn? He’s been a guest critique-er in this Community - he has a whole delicious book of sand dune photos I bet you’d enjoy.
Really nice! I love the tonal variations and how you’ve placed them in the composition. The lines and textures are very compelling. Just a quite sensuous abstract image. I, too, love sand dunes.
HI Fritz! This image is really cool! Initially I thought this was an abstract, until I read your description. I can see why you enjoyed it so much. I really like how you composed all the lines and curves here. Well done!
Fritz, this is way cool. At first I was thinking that you taken the shot through metal bars. The mix of abstract, real and a touch of alien (the top rounded bit) is very eye catching and compels spending some time viewing.
This is very fine, Fritz! Those tiny ripples give this away as sand, but we’re left wondering about the scale and orientation (which way is up? not that it matters, of course).
Fritz: Spiked my -meter with this one! There is such a strong sense of “What is this?” which is only tipped off by the small area of rippled sand. Exceptionally well seen and a superbly crafted image.>=))>
@Mark_Seaver@Diane_Miller@Bonnie_Lampley@Steve_Kennedy@Bill_Fach@Connie_McClaran@Bill_Fach@Diane_Miller , thank you all for taking the time to comment; this certainly is among my all-time personal favorites…so glad you all enjoyed this image. This was probably my most creatively productive day I have spent at the dunes; and there have been a few . Really happy how the composition came out, without any post cropping whatsoever.
Diane: yes, many more to come. Connie: Yes, I know Alister’s work quite well, and with quite a few others, his work has been a huge inspiration. Chris: happy to hear you love dunes as well . Mark: “the top rounded bit” is actually what I used as the main part of the composition; to me, it ties it all together, even though it is in the URC. Bonnie: I just went back to double check; the shot is straight on, no camera or post tilt :). The patterns that morning were truly amazing as they were.
Again, thank you all for your kind words. They truly mean a lot!
I’m not too sure about the form of a critique and for this image I’m not too concerned about it. I just love the aesthetic of the piece, the balance and the way it flows. There’s a sense of calmness I feel looking at it. It feels peaceful. I love it!
