Caught this giant swallowtail feasting on the pentas at the Mercer Arboretum last weekend. I was happy with the focus on the perch and head structures of the butterfly and the wing position. All comments welcome. >=))>
Wow, Bill, you filled the frame with this large Swallowtail. My eyes are feasting on this beautiful image and wishing it was mine. I like the way he is on the flower, with an excellent look at his face. The nice pink flowers just brighten the image nicely. Wonderful shot.
Bill, this is an amazing photo of this swallowtail. I have to agree with @Shirley_Freeman in
“wishing it was mine.” Very nice done.
Hi Bill, nice catch of this Giant - a species I just can’t seem to capture. I like the angle of the butterfly pointing toward us and the critical focus on the head is nice. The wing position is also pleasing as you mention. A fine capture and rendition of a difficult subject. In the largest version, I noticed some noise on the abdomen and flower stems but not enough to detract from this fine image.
Well done, Bill. Both butterfly and flower are in nice focus and the colors are nice and soft. Nice shot of this most difficult to capture butterfly.
Bill
Gorgeous, striking shot! Everything that needs to be in focus, is in focus and a nice BG to set it off.
Well done!
Bill, this looks great, with the flowers and the butterfly’s head and thorax strikingly sharp. The high contrast between the yellow and black in the bf adds an interesting artistic element.
Gorgeous, with both the butterfly and the flower so sharp. I love the square crop and how the leaves cradle the flower at the bottom edge, keeping the eye following a strong structure out of the frame. The second OOF flower is the grace note! The butterfly and flower are so incredibly strong, I wonder about a little more softening of the BG with partial opacity cloning to make them jump off the page.
